Poem: The Real Me

Written in March of 2018, right before we bought the Condo in Chicago, this Poem is a Teaser for Chapter 3 of my Memoir, which comes out very soon.

The real me

knows this is fake

that

only love

is real

that Dad will come around

that it is his fear

talking

not his heart

that I am his girl

forever

despite his cursing

into the phone line.

The real me

is no longer a child

the real me

will not be controlled by his fear

the real me

has razor sharp instincts,

and a gut

that tells

no lies.
